Beauty and Beyond with Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery

Most people may think of image-perfect celebrities and rocking the runway when they hear the term “cosmetic surgery,” but in reality, cosmetic surgery offers benefits to a far wider audience than Hollywood stars and runway models.

In fact, cosmetic surgery may be the perfect harmony of health and science: from reconstructive surgery to rebuilding self-esteem, our industry provides benefits beyond perfect lips and enviable thighs.

Self-Esteem

How we feel about ourselves colors everything we think, do, and say. There is no reason to let self-esteem suffer because of physical attributes that could easily be altered with cosmetic surgery. Improved self esteem can lead to:

  • A feeling of freedom to express views and opinion
  • Greater confidence in making decisions
  • Improved ability to form secure and honest relationships
  • A decreased likelihood of maintaining unhealthy relationships
  • Less overcritical thinking about yourself and others
  • Improved emotional resilience and a higher capability of managing stress and setbacks
  • Decreased likelihood of experiencing feelings such as hopelessness, worthlessness, guilt, and shame

Reconstructive Surgery

Rebuilding a part of our physical appearance after trauma or surgery can be a powerful healing mechanism. Reconstructive procedures can be used to fix birth defects, such as cleft palates, and for treatment after a traumatic injury, such as severe burns or car accidents. Reconstructive surgery can also be used for rebuilding breast tissue after treatment for breast cancer.

Rhinoplasty

Many people snore or suffer from sleep apnea and difficulty breathing that can cause serious health problems. A “nose job” can alleviate all of these conditions. Additionally, during rhinoplasty, it is relatively easy to perform septoplasty (repair of a deviated septum) which is known to cause nosebleeds and headaches.

Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty can be used to alleviate irritation from rashes and skin infections caused by loose, hanging skin. Excess skin can also cause lower back pain, which can be reduced with this procedure.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery can have significant advantages for psychosocial, sexual, and physical well-being. In addition to alleviating back pain, breast reduction can lead to significant improvements in sleep and enjoyment of exercise. In fact, the procedure is often covered by insurance.

The goal of any cosmetic surgery procedure is to help you feel your best. Call our office today for more information. We’re always happy to answer any questions you may have.
