Skin Aging and Wrinkles

Many of us think that aging of the skin can be judged simply by the number of wrinkles present, but there are many more signs to be aware of. Photoaging, or dermatoheliosis, is the result of UVA and UVB exposure, though it does not always appear in the form of wrinkles.

When assessing the skin for aging, skin color irregularities and brightness have a significant impact on overall health and attractiveness. Therefore, patients of Dr. Kuy are encouraged to take a more comprehensive approach to rejuvenating their skin:

  • Utilize neurotoxins that are injected into the skin to relax the muscles and smooth severe wrinkles. We recommend Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.
  • Add fillers to increase volume or level uneven areas. Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Belotero are FDA approved recommendations.
  • Don’t forget to address color and pigment irregularities with IPL (Intense Pulse Light), lasers (Fractionated Co2 lasers), and micropeels, as well as pigment stabilizing cosmeceuticals such as microneedling.

More importantly, it’s important that healthy skincare habits are developed at a young age to prevent or mitigate damage. Apply sunscreen or day creams with SPF several times a day to postpone surgical intervention as long as possible.

Wherever you are in the aging process, Dr. Kuy is here to help. His years of experience in plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures are matched only by his dedication to providing his patients with cutting edge practices and technology.
